The captivating Fallout: London mod has kept the gaming community on its toes for the past couple of years, and anticipation can finally morph into excitement as an official launch date is set for April 23. It is reported that although the development of the mod is complete, the team behind it will devote the coming months to rigorous testing to ensure a polished experience.
Crafted as a massive, downloadable addition to Bethesda’s Fallout 4, Fallout: London reconstructs the cityscape of the English capital within the game. Bucking tradition, the mod weaves through a nuclear-torn London, showcasing altered renditions of landmarks such as Big Ben, Shakespeare's Globe, and Trafalgar Square. These historic locales have naturally been reshaped by the game's familiar post-apocalyptic turmoil.
The creators, Team Folon, emphasize that the European backdrop of Fallout: London is not merely aesthetic. Players can anticipate story arcs that dive into the backstory of Europe prior to the great war that shapes the series' universe. The narrative also intends to dissect the effects of the Fallout series' fictional Resource Wars on London's society, which maintained its own class hierarchy. As it stands as a direct continuation of Fallout 4, those eager to indulge in Fallout: London will need access to the base game on PC.
The project, with more than three years in the making, was originally projected to be ready in either 2022 or 2023. Team Folon explained that the postponement was an inevitable circumstance, as some contributors have been dealing with the repercussions of conflicts in their home regions, likely alluding to the situation in Ukraine.
Although the designated release date in April might not hold significant weight in the United States, it coincides with St. George's Day, a date marked with festivities and pageants in Britain, despite not being a recognized public holiday. Furthermore, the mod's release neatly aligns with the premiere of the Fallout series on Amazon Prime Video just one week prior, signaling April as a month of joy for Vault Boy enthusiasts and the Fallout fandom at large.
